Appointment Solidifies Organizational Structure Advancing Public-Private Partnership
Tokyo–July 9, 2025–Today, Takeshi Hakamada, CEO & Founder of ispace, inc. (ispace) (TOKYO: 9348), a global lunar exploration company, announced the appointment of Hideari Kamiya, a space business specialist, as Executive Vice President (EVP) of the Programs and Business Development Office for the company’s Japan subsidiary.
The appointment positions ispace to further strengthen Japan-based public-private partnership-driven business development and accelerate contributions to the country’s rapidly growing space business market.

I am committed to leveraging the experience and expertise I have cultivated over the years to contribute to the realization of ispace’s vision of a lunar economy and the further development of Japan’s space industry,” said Hideari Kamiya, EVP of the Japan Programs and Business Development Office. “In particular, I will focus on strengthening relationships with domestic and international stakeholders through public-private partnerships, advancing new market development, and contributing to the growth of ispace and the development of Japan’s space business.”
Prior to joining ispace, Kamiya spent approximately 30 years at Mitsubishi Corporation, where he served as the head of the space business and held positions in Washington, D.C. twice, among other roles. During his time the company saw a significant expansion of space business both domestically and internationally through public-private partnerships. In this new role, Kamiya is expected to contribute to the strengthening of the Japan organizational structure and the acceleration of business development. He will report directly to CEO Takeshi Hakamada, who is currently serving as both the CEO of the global organization as well as the Japanese subsidiary.
Along with the appointment, ispace-Japan is led by CEO Hakamada, CPO Kenichi Imamura, who will serve as EVP, Japan People Office, Yu Okajima, EVP of Japan Operations Office, along with EVP Yoshitsugu Hitachi, Japan Engineering Office. With the addition of Kamiya, the leadership team for ispace-Japan numbers five and joins the global management team, leading the efforts of ispace around the globe in the development of the cislunar economy.
The appointment was effective July 1, 2025, when Kamiya joined ispace-Japan.
