Janelle didn’t grow up imagining a future in space – but now she helps lead lunar missions from ispace’s Mission Control Center in Tokyo as its Mission 2 Deputy Mission Director. Previously at NASA JPL, Janelle made the bold move to Japan to serve as one of the flight directors for ispace’s maiden mission – a decision she describes as one of the proudest of her life.
For Janelle, the motivation is clear: “I’m doing something to contribute to humanity’s future.” She’s also a lifelong gamer – raised on Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon – which may explain the sharp focus and joy she brings to every mission.
